Ashley Beutler-Schumacher Reflects on Running and Home
As New Glarus brings back high school track and field for the first time since 1989, former running standout Ashley Beutler-Schumacher is looking back on a career that carried her from a local co-op to UW-Madison and beyond.
Ashley Beutler-Schumacher’s running story began in New Glarus, but it did not stay there for long. Much time passed before New Glarus had its own high school track and field program again, Beutler-Schumacher was building a path through a cooperative setup that connected athletes from New Glarus, Monticello and Belleville. That path eventually led her to a standout career at the University of Wisconsin and, years later, to a busy family and professional life in the Madison area.
Today, Beutler-Schumacher lives in McFarland with her husband, Marty, and their two children, Jordy, 7, and Mia, 5. After moving to Madison in 2008 to attend UW-Madison and graduating in 2013, she explored a range of jobs, coached track and field at Madison East, and eventually found her way into recruiting and human resources with Dave Jones, Inc., where she has now spent about 12 years. “They’re truly the center of my world and keep life busy, fun, and full,” she said of her children.
