New Glarus is still catching its breath after what may go down as the most successful Christkindli Market yet. Over three days, an estimated 12,000 visitors filled downtown—an astonishing number for a village of fewer than 2,500 residents. Crowds poured in from across Wisconsin and well beyond, spilling through the chalets, shops, restaurants, and nonprofits that lined the streets. And while the snow, cold air, and overflowing parking situation may have been challenges on paper, the reality was one of joy: a community moving together in step with the holiday season.
