New Glarus will gather later this month to celebrate the retirement of one of its most familiar and respected faces in hospitality. A retirement open house honoring longtime chef and restaurateur Mike Nevil is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event will recognize Nevil’s retirement from the Chalet Landhaus Restaurant after more than 45 years devoted to Swiss cuisine, hospitality and service in New Glarus. Friends, family, longtime patrons and community members are invited to stop in, share stories and reminisce about the many meals and memories tied to his career.
