Purpose and Mission

New Glarus 360 is an independent community news and information outlet dedicated to telling the stories of New Glarus, Wisconsin, and the surrounding area. Our mission is to inform, connect, and celebrate the community through timely, accurate, and meaningful local reporting. We strive to operate without bias, advocacy, or hidden agenda, and to earn trust through transparency, consistency, and accountability.

Editorial Independence

New Glarus 360 operates independently and is not affiliated with any political party, government agency, advocacy organization, or advertiser. Editorial decisions are made without influence from advertisers, sponsors, political groups, or outside organizations.

Editorial Standards

Accuracy, fairness, and transparency guide every story published by New Glarus 360. We make reasonable efforts to verify information before publication and to present it in context. Fabricated quotes, misleading content, or knowingly false information will not be published. When mistakes occur, we correct them promptly.

Attribution and Credit

When residents or contributors provide tips, photos, videos, or information, those contributions are credited as user supplied unless otherwise noted. All photographs are credited to the photographer or source whenever possible. Images without a photo credit should be considered stock photography or publicly available material used under fair use or an open license.

Use of AI Tools

New Glarus 360 may use artificial intelligence tools to assist with drafting, editing, or organizing content. When no AI tools are used, stories carry a byline reading “By [Name].” When AI is used in editing or production, no byline is provided. Regardless of tool usage, every story is reviewed and edited by a human before publication.

Corrections

New Glarus 360 takes corrections seriously. If an error is identified, we will correct it as quickly as practical. Corrections may be made within the original post or noted in a follow-up comment, depending on the nature of the error. Readers are encouraged to report inaccuracies by email or direct message.

Comments and Community Conduct

New Glarus 360 exists to strengthen community connection and conversation. We expect comments and interactions to be civil, respectful, and on topic. Be kind, be courteous, and try to get along. Disagreement is allowed; disrespect is not.

Personal attacks, harassment, name-calling, misinformation, or inflammatory language may result in moderation action. Comment access is managed on an individual basis using a progressive approach:

  • First infraction results in comment privileges being closed for one week.
  • Second infraction results in comment privileges being closed for one month.
  • Third infraction results in an indefinite suspension of comment privileges.

After one year, individuals with an indefinite suspension may submit an appeal for review. Appeals will be considered in good faith, but reinstatement is not guaranteed.

If you find that participating respectfully in community discussion is not possible, we ask that you steer clear. Our goal at New Glarus 360 is a space where neighbors feel informed, welcomed, and respected.

All discussions also follow Facebook’s Community Standards.
