Glarner Knights Shine in Return to Track
New Glarus track and field opened its first season back in decades with the boys taking second, the girls finishing fifth, and several Knights delivering big points at Platteville.
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The New Glarus Glarner Knights wasted no time making noise in their return to track and field, turning in a strong opening meet Saturday at the Tri-State Small School Invitational at Williams Fieldhouse. The boys finished second out of 13 teams with 68 points, while the girls placed fifth out of 15 teams with 42.
For a program making its first trip back to the sport since 1989, it was the kind of opening statement that had to feel good all the way around. New Glarus did not just show up — the Glarner Knights scored across the sprints, jumps, relays and throws, and they looked every bit like a team ready to compete right away.
