Highway 69 Construction Set for Spring 2026, Ending at New Glarus Brewing Company Entrance
A 12.5-mile reconstruction of Highway 69 between Monroe and New Glarus is planned for 2026, bringing resurfacing, intersection upgrades, and a new roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow.
A major reconstruction of Wisconsin Highway 69 is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026, bringing significant upgrades to the most heavily traveled route between Monroe and New Glarus. The 12.5-mile project stretches from Bushnell Creek north of Monroe to Cow Path Lane, the entrance to the New Glarus Brewing Company, just south of the village limits.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the roadway has reached the point where full resurfacing and structural improvements are needed. The current pavement shows extensive longitudinal and transverse cracking, and many of the culverts beneath the highway are deteriorating or failing. The project will mill two inches of pavement and replace it with two inches of new asphalt, along with new shoulder aggregate, pavement markings, rumble strips, and guardrail.
