Highway 69 Remains a Busy New Glarus Corridor
Wisconsin traffic data shows Highway 69 east of New Glarus has remained heavily traveled for years, outpacing nearby Highway 39 and many county roads while offering a glimpse into how WisDOT and planners view the corridor.
Traffic counts on Highway 69 near New Glarus suggest the road has remained one of the busiest corridors in the immediate area for years, with the state’s published count history generally showing about 8,000 vehicles per day on the east side of the village.
Data from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s (WisDOT) online TCMap system shows Highway 69 between Wisconsin 39 and County Highway W carried 8,300 vehicles per day in 2023 when data was last collected. A second count point just south of Chalet Landhaus showed 7,900 vehicles per day that same year. Those figures were not dramatically different from earlier years, suggesting the route has been consistently busy rather than rapidly growing or sharply declining.
