Rare hand-colored European prints from the 1700s displayed inside New Glarus’ Chalet of the Golden Fleece Museum are being sent out for professional conservation after grants and donations helped fund the work.

Historic European Prints Headed for Restoration

A collection of historic European prints from the Chalet of the Golden Fleece Museum in New Glarus is being sent out for professional restoration, a project aimed at preserving artwork believed to date back to the 18th century.

The effort focuses on nine prints displayed in the museum’s second-floor guest bedroom. Three of the pieces were restored in 2024, and the remaining six are now being prepared for conservation treatment.
