Historical Photo: Chalet Landhaus Groundbreaking, 1979

A faded photograph found at the New Glarus Hotel has been brought back to life, offering what appears to be a rare glimpse of the groundbreaking era for Chalet Landhaus in New Glarus.

The image, discovered in poor condition and recently restored, is believed to show Hans Lenzlinger, architect Stu Gallaher, Toni Zeuger and Ruedi Roher standing on the cleared site and celebrating with what look to be bottles of champagne. If that identification is correct, the photo likely dates to the summer of 1979, when construction of Chalet Landhaus was getting underway.
