Letter to the Editor: Re-Elect Pernitz to the New Glarus Town Board
Jason Neton writes that Mark Pernitz has brought years of legal experience, park leadership and fiscally conservative service to the Town of New Glarus, and he is urging voters to support Pernitz on April 7.
To the Editor,
Over the last seven years, I have had the opportunity to get to know Mark as both a friend and colleague on the Town Park Commission and as an officer of the friends group for New Glarus Woods State Park.
Mark is always ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work for New Glarus. Right away, he made an impact on the Park Commission by utilizing his more than 40 years of experience as an attorney and community volunteer to assist the commission.
After joining, Mark volunteered to take on the challenging task of writing our grant application for $90,000 in funding from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. We were awarded the grant and used it to create more than six miles of trails for the new town property at Legacy Prairie Park.
In addition to his work on the grant, Mark was also instrumental in the development of Legacy Prairie Park’s master plan and the community input sessions that ensured residents could provide input and ideas.
We all have a desire to continually improve our wonderful community here in south-central Wisconsin, and Mark has proven that he has the skills to get the hard work done. It has been inspiring to have a leader supporting those advancements as New Glarus evolves and grows in the years to come.
In addition to his work with the parks, Mark was also instrumental in negotiating the sale of the Town Hall to the Village, which has resulted in finally building our long-desired new community library.
Mark has been consistently focused on initiatives that benefit the community, but he does so in a fiscally conservative and responsible way. He brings balanced yet forward-thinking service to our board and deserves re-election.
Please join me in voting to re-elect Mark Pernitz to the New Glarus Town Board on April 7.
