Lloyd Lueschow, State Scientist, Public Servant and Tireless Cyclist, Dies at 91

Lloyd Lueschow, a former Wisconsin state scientist and public servant who also served locally in New Glarus, was known for his civic involvement, devotion to family and remarkable endurance on a bicycle.

Lloyd Lueschow, age 91, peacefully passed away at the SSM Health Monroe Hospice Home on March 28, 2026. In the fall of 2025, Lloyd underwent radiation treatments and recovered well but ultimately passed away of natural causes.

Lloyd was born to William and Alice Lueschow on June 2, 1934, in the Town of Wien, Marathon County, Wisconsin. He moved with his family to Benton, Wisconsin, when he was in the sixth grade and graduated from Benton High School in 1952. He then attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, graduating in 1956 with a degree in Biology. Lloyd continued his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison to achieve a Master of Science Degree in Entomology.
