New Glarus watched a conference-defining opportunity slip away Friday night as the Glarner Knights fell to Marshall 68-66 in a Senior Night heartbreaker that ended in controversy and a collective gasp.
With first place in the Capitol South Conference still within reach and a packed New Glarus High School gym roaring, the Glarner Knights battled back from double-digit deficits twice, only to see the final possession — and perhaps the conference race — hang on a couple of whistles and a rim.
