New Glarus 360 Seeks ‘Photo of the Week’ Moments

New Glarus 360 is asking readers to help capture the spirit of the village, one image at a time.

A new call is out for Photo of the Week submissions for the publication’s Community Update newsletter, with editors seeking images that feel distinctly New Glarus and reflect the people, places, weather, events and everyday moments that define life in the community.

The idea is simple: send in a photo that is beautiful, noteworthy, and/or helps tell the story of the week in New Glarus. That could mean a festival scene, a striking sunset, a local event, a familiar face, a quiet outdoor moment, wildlife, changing weather or a view that feels quintessentially New Glarus.

Photos should be emailed to editor@newglarus360.com. If a photo is selected, the photographer will receive credit when it appears in the newsletter or on the New Glarus 360 website.

Editors said professional experience is not required. Amateur photographers are welcome, and contributors do not need expensive equipment to take part. A cell phone photo is enough.

By emailing a photo for Photo of the Week, contributors are licensing the image to New Glarus 360 for use in the newsletter and on the website. Selected entries also will move on to a year-end contest.

In late December, readers will vote to choose the Photo of the Year. The winning image will earn a $250 award along with the coveted “Photograph of the Year” T-shirt.

There is no limit to how many times a person can win during the year, which means photographers can keep submitting and improve their odds with each strong image they send in.

New Glarus 360 also reserves the right to edit submitted photos in Photoshop to enhance their appearance, but otherwise the rules are intentionally minimal in an effort to keep the feature open and accessible.

The goal is not technical perfection. It is to find images that feel local, timely and unmistakably New Glarus. New Glarus 360 looks forward to seeing your entries.

– Send your best New Glarus photos, story ideas and community moments to New Glarus 360 so we can feature more of the people and places that make this village special.
