New Glarus 360 Sets Election Letter Deadlines

New Glarus 360 will continue publishing letters to the editor as part of its coverage of local issues and the upcoming April 7 election, while setting clear deadlines and guidelines for submissions.

The publication believes community discussion and thoughtful viewpoints are an important part of local journalism, particularly during an election season when residents are considering the future direction of their community.

Letters to the editor on New Glarus 360 are published once each week on Fridays at 11 a.m. The weekly schedule allows time for verification and editing while ensuring readers have a predictable time to see new community perspectives.

In preparation for the April 7 election, the final opportunity to submit a campaign-related letter to the editor will be noon on Thursday, March 26. Those letters will be published on Friday, March 27.

After that date, no new campaign letters will be published before the election. However, readers may submit responses to letters that appear on or before March 27. Those replies will be published the following Friday, which will be the final letters to the editor published before the election.

For all other weeks, the standard submission deadline remains Thursday at noon for publication the following day assuming a writer’s information is verified.

New Glarus 360 limits letters to individuals with a connection to the greater New Glarus community. Letters must come from someone who lives within the broader community, including residents of the New Glarus, Belleville, Monticello, or Blanchardville school districts.

Letters may also be submitted by individuals who work or previously worked in the New Glarus community, or who attended or graduated from the New Glarus School District. Letters from individuals outside the area will not be accepted unless the writer can clearly establish a meaningful connection to the community.

The publication also welcomes letters from community members who wish to share perspectives on local issues. Submissions must be respectful, relevant to the community, and signed with the writer’s real name.

Letters must be original, civil, and limited to 500 words. New Glarus 360 may edit submissions for clarity, grammar, and style while preserving the writer’s original intent.

Contact information is required for verification before publication. Letters may also include photos or links if the writer holds the rights to use them.

In addition to letters to the editor, New Glarus 360 may publish guest columns from writers both inside and outside the community if the topic is clearly relevant to residents of the New Glarus area. Guest columns allow for longer or more specialized commentary and are reviewed and approved in advance. The standard letters to the editor policies and deadlines do not apply to guest columns. Those interested in submitting a guest column idea should email editor@newglarus360.com with a brief description of the topic for consideration.

Letters to the editor should be submitted to editor@newglarus360.com.
