A newly released emergency medical services study for New Glarus outlines the challenges facing rural ambulance systems and recommends a long-term regional EMS district as the most sustainable solution for the community. The report examines demographics, response times, finances, and staffing trends affecting emergency care in New Glarus and surrounding municipalities.
The study was commissioned by the Village of New Glarus and prepared by the Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SWWRPC) as local leaders evaluate how emergency medical services should be structured in the future.
