New Glarus Fire Department Responds to House Fire Overnight
A large overnight fire at a rural home off Highway 39 drew firefighters from New Glarus and several neighboring departments early Wednesday as crews worked to contain the blaze and protect the surrounding area.
UPDATE: The property owners told New Glarus 360 they were not home at the time of the fire and had been staying at a friend's house in Blanchardville while the house was being remodeled. While the fire was upsetting, the owners said they were thankful their family was safe.
The New Glarus Fire Department was dispatched around 1:47 a.m. Wednesday to the area of Highway 39 and County Highway J for a fire, according to Green County scanner traffic. As crews got closer, radio traffic indicated firefighters could see a “glow” from about a mile away but were still unsure whether a structure was involved.
