New Glarus Glarner Knights Football Moving to SWAL Conference This Fall
Change of conference for football only aims to bring stability, competitive balance and manageable travel for New Glarus.
The New Glarus Glarner Knights football program will have a new conference home beginning in the fall of 2026, as the team joins the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League (SWAL) Conference in a football-only alignment approved as part of the WIAA’s latest realignment cycle.
The move places New Glarus in a seven-team conference that includes Benton/Scales Mound/Shullsburg, Cuba City, Darlington, Fennimore, Mineral Point and Southwestern/East Dubuque. For school leaders and coaches, the shift is about long-term stability, geographic fit and maintaining a sustainable 11-player football program.
