An artist’s rendering shows the new New Glarus Public Library, which is scheduled to open June 4 ahead of schedule after a yearslong effort to bring a larger, modern library facility to downtown New Glarus. The new building will include expanded technology, more space for programming, and a reading garden.

The New Glarus Public Library plans to open its long-awaited new facility on June 4, putting the project on track to welcome the public during the first week of June and ahead of the original timeline. Library Director Amy Trumble said the final stretch is now focused on landscaping, training, installation and the staged move into the new building.

That timeline means patrons should expect a temporary closure of the current library during the transition. Trumble said the library is scheduled to close for three weeks beginning May 14 so staff can prepare for the grand opening at the new location.
