New Glarus Track Returns Home After Long Wait

New Glarus hosted its first home track and field meet since 1989 on Tuesday, drawing a large crowd in sunny conditions as the Glarner Knights and their competitors turned the long-awaited return into a busy, memorable afternoon.

The long wait for home track and field in New Glarus ended Tuesday, when the Glarner Knights hosted their first meet in the village since 1989. With sunny skies and a nice crowd gathered around the track, the triangular meet felt equal parts competition and community moment.

New Glarus gave spectators plenty to watch, turning in strong performances across sprints, relays, distance races and field events against Belleville and New Glarus/Monticello. Official results from the meet showed New Glarus collecting numerous event wins on both the boys and girls sides.
