Paoli Christmas Market Sparks Traffic Gridlock Upstream From New Glarus
Paoli’s Christmas Market drew crowds—and gridlock—Friday night, backing up traffic on Highway 69 and County PB. Drivers reported long delays and safety concerns as congestion stretched well beyond downtown.
A week after New Glarus wrapped up its annual Christkindli Market, a similar holiday event just upstream is drawing attention for a very different reason: traffic.
Paoli’s Christmas Market kicked off Friday night and quickly triggered heavy congestion along County Highway PB and Highway 69, a key north–south corridor linking Madison with southern Dane County and northern Green County. By early evening, vehicles were already backed up well beyond Paoli’s tiny downtown as visitors poured in ahead of a weekend forecast calling for dangerously cold temperatures.
