For the first time in many years, the snowmobile trails leading into New Glarus officially opened at 5 p.m. Sunday. The opening was delayed until local volunteers could groom and mark the routes and until some landowners along the trail finished deer hunting during the muzzleloader season. With those preparations complete and a solid base of snow on the ground, New Glarus is suddenly back on the map for snowmobilers in a big way.
