Sugar River Drops Dual to Whitewater at Belleville
Quick pins and momentum swings marked a busy night on the mat as Sugar River tested its lineup against Whitewater in a dual meet hosted at Belleville High School.
The Sugar River wrestling team competed in a dual meet against Whitewater on Saturday night at Belleville High School, with Whitewater coming away with the team victory.
Whitewater finished the dual with 30 points, while Sugar River, the cooperative team made up of Belleville, Monticello and New Glarus High Schools, scored 17.
The dual moved quickly, with most bouts decided by fall. Whitewater opened the night at 215 pounds, where junior Austin Retzlaff pinned Sugar River’s Konstantin Tumashov in 1:10. Sugar River answered at 190, as sophomore Brady Baer recorded a first-period fall to get the co-op on the board.
