As the calendar turns to a new year, many residents wonder what new laws or regulations might take effect on January 1 and whether anything meaningful will change in their day-to-day lives. For those living in New Glarus, most of the adjustments happening at the start of 2026 will come from the state and federal level rather than local government.

As 2026 begins, there won’t be any major shakeups at the local government level in New Glarus. Existing village and town rules remain in place, and there are no newly adopted ordinances or policies going into effect on January 1. Residents should expect the same permitting, zoning, and municipal service rules that were already in force last year.
