97th Volksfest Welcomes Swiss Guest Group Aug. 2

New Glarus Volksfest returns Aug. 2 with traditional Swiss music, yodeling, flag throwing, alphorns, local performers and special guests from St. Gallen, Switzerland, for a family-friendly celebration at Wilhelm Tell Shooting Park. 

97th Volksfest Welcomes Swiss Guest Group Aug. 2

New Glarus will celebrate its Swiss heritage with local performers, traditional folk arts and special guests from Switzerland during the 97th New Glarus Volksfest on Sunday, Aug. 2.

The celebration begins at noon at Wilhelm Tell Shooting Park, N8745 County Highway O, just outside New Glarus. Food, drinks and music from Radio Tell will be available beginning at noon, followed by a performance from Dave Austin at 12:30 p.m. The formal Volksfest program begins at 1:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 at the gate, with children ages 12 and younger admitted free. Tickets are available only at the event.

Volksfest commemorates Swiss Independence Day through traditional Swiss entertainment, including choral folk music, yodeling, Swiss flag throwing, alphorn music, accordion music and talerschwingen.
