Bailey’s Run Grape Stomp Returns Sept. 12
Teams of two will race to stomp grapes and collect juice Saturday at Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery, where the seventh annual Grape Stomp will also feature a children’s heat, costume competition, live music and brick-oven pizza near New Glarus.
Bailey’s Run Vineyard & Winery will bring back one of its signature fall traditions Saturday, Sept. 12, with its seventh annual Grape Stomp at the vineyard just west of New Glarus. The stomping competition begins at 11 a.m. and is scheduled to continue through about 3 p.m.
The competition pairs teams of two, with one person stomping grapes while the other collects the juice. Teams race to produce a specified amount of juice, with the fastest advancing to the event’s “Final Crush.” Members of the winning team each receive a bottle of wine.
The first competition of the day will be a “Petite” heat beginning promptly at 11 a.m. on the main stage, pairing one adult with one child. Adult heats will follow, and Bailey’s Run will also hold a Best Team Costume Competition after the competitive stomping concludes.
Anyone planning to stomp must register in advance online. Registration includes entry into the competition, a commemorative Grape Stomp T-shirt for each team member and a drink ticket for each participant good for a glass of wine or beer. Bailey’s Run notes that late registrants are not guaranteed a T-shirt.
