Culver’s of New Glarus will host a full day of family activities and community fundraisers this Friday, July 31, with portions of sales benefiting three area organizations.

The event builds upon the Pecatonica FFA petting zoo held at the restaurant last year, expanding the program into a daylong celebration featuring farm animals, games, frozen custard specials, food donations and appearances by Culver’s mascot Scoopie.

Throughout the day, guests may purchase one pint of frozen custard for $3 or a four-pint party pack for $8. Scoopie will also be available during the day to meet families and pose for photographs.

"Last year, we noticed that the petting zoo had a great turn out but didn't have any other draws to keep people around," Jordan Peterson, Manager of Culver's Restaurant in New Glarus. "We thought that adding some more activities to give our guests something to do after checking out the FFA's animals."

Peterson said the three groups selected for their big day represent three local communities that they serve and have been great partners with them in the past.

The Pecatonica FFA petting zoo will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Culver’s parking lot. A variety of farm animals will be available for visitors to see and interact with under the supervision of FFA members.
