Five New Glarus Alumni March with UW Band

A familiar hometown connection will be on display at Camp Randall this fall, where five New Glarus High School graduates are part of the UW Marching Band — including a sophomore trumpet player who earned her spot for the 2026 season.

Five New Glarus High School alumni are performing with the University of Wisconsin–Madison Marching Band this fall, giving the local music program an unusually strong presence in one of Wisconsin’s most visible collegiate ensembles.

Ella Skidmore, a sophomore at UW–Madison who plays trumpet, is the newest New Glarus graduate to earn a place in the band. She joins Trenton Hendrickson, Elena Marunde, Dylan Fritz and Delaney Hoeper, all fellow New Glarus High School alumni.

The School District of New Glarus announced the group Thursday, calling the five-alumni connection a source of pride for the district, high school and local music community. The district said Skidmore will perform with the band throughout the 2026-27 school year.

The district also praised the commitment required of college marching-band members, who balance rehearsals and performances with their academic work. It said seeing five former students continue their musical careers at UW–Madison reflects the opportunities provided through New Glarus music programs.
