MADISON, Wis. — Katherine “Kathy” Weaver of Belleville, who once owned and operated the Town Edge Restaurant in New Glarus with her husband Al, has earned recognition for another kind of craftsmanship, receiving an Honorable Merit Award at the 2026 Great Wisconsin Quilt Show in Madison.

The honor gives Green County a connection to one of the Midwest’s largest gatherings devoted to quilting. Presented by PBS Wisconsin and Nancy Zieman Productions, the three-day show runs Sept. 10-12 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

For many longtime New Glarus residents, Weaver’s name may be familiar because of the Town Edge Restaurant. Kathy and Al formerly owned and operated the New Glarus restaurant before she eventually made her home in Belleville.

Weaver is also a member of Green County Home and Community Education, which operates through University of Wisconsin Extension. The Home and Community Education program provides educational and community-service opportunities for members while encouraging learning, leadership and involvement in communities throughout Green County.
