GCDC Breakfast in New Glarus to Examine Aging, Wealth Transfer

Green County Development Corporation will host its Fall Breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club in New Glarus, focusing on two demographic and economic changes organizers say are already reshaping Green County.

The panel will feature a representative from the Community Foundation (CFSW) and a representative from Forward Analytics, the research arm of the Wisconsin Counties Association. GCDC Executive Director Olivia Otte will moderate the discussion.

Rather than simply reviewing demographic trends, organizers say the discussion will examine where wealth may go as it changes hands between generations, which sectors of the local economy may feel the effects of an aging population first and what communities already responding to those changes are doing differently.

“Most people in this room already know our population is aging, we're not here to repeat that,” Otte said. “We're here because that shift and a massive transfer of wealth are happening on the same timeline, and our community needs a plan for both. This breakfast is about leaving with real ideas and tangible steps forward.”
