Glarner Community Complex Nears Finish Line

After years of planning, fundraising and construction, Phase 2 is expected to be finished by the end of October, completing a project Superintendent Jennifer Thayer says once seemed more like a dream than a realistic possibility.

There are only a handful of pieces left to finish at the Glarner Community Complex, bringing New Glarus School District officials remarkably close to the end of a project that began with the need for a new athletic field and grew into something considerably larger.

Phase 2 of the complex is expected to be complete by the end of October, according to New Glarus School District Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Thayer. The donor boards and Swiss-inspired pavilion are expected to be the final pieces of construction.

But visitors should begin seeing some of the most anticipated improvements even sooner.

The district hopes to open the complex's new permanent restrooms for tonight's Homecoming football game at The Bank of New Glarus Field. The much larger concession area also will be substantially complete, although Thayer said it remains uncertain whether everything can be moved from the existing concession stand into the new facility in time for the game.
