The third annual Glarner Knights Homecoming Fun Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Glarner Community Complex and Bank of New Glarus Field, giving runners, walkers and families another way to take part in homecoming week while supporting New Glarus track and field.
The event begins with the 5K Fun Run at 9 a.m., followed by a 1K kids run at 9:50 a.m. and a 5K Fun Walk at 10 a.m. Registration costs $30 for adults and $15 for participants younger than 18 and includes a race or walk entry and T-shirt. Awards will also be presented to top finishers.
New Glarus High School track and field coach Rychia Powell said the event began through Travis Sysko and the New Glarus Booster Club, which organized the run and walk during the past two homecoming weeks as both a community activity and fundraiser for district athletics.
“This year, Travis was kind enough to pass it off to the Track & Field program as a fundraising event for our team,” Powell said.
