Green County Clean Sweep Set for Aug. 19
Residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted household and agricultural hazardous chemicals Aug. 19 in Monticello, helping keep potentially harmful materials out of landfills, waterways and the environment.
MONTICELLO, Wis., — Green County Clean Sweep will hold its 2026 one-day hazardous chemical disposal program Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Monticello Recycling Center, 406 North Main St.
The program allows Green County residents, including New Glarus area households and farms, to safely dispose of qualifying agricultural and household hazardous chemicals.
Farmers and homeowners may dispose of up to 100 pounds for free. Proof of Green County residency is required, and no preregistration is needed.
Accepted items include insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, old fertilizer, mercury, antifreeze, oil-based paint, fluorescent tubes, small LP gas tanks, prescription drop-off items and several other household or farm products.
