Green County to Host Free Private Well Event
Private well owners in Green County can attend a free July 29 event in Monroe to learn about local groundwater contaminants, well maintenance, treatment systems and reduced-cost water testing available to the first 10 attendees who arrive.
MONROE, Wis. — Green County private well owners can learn more about safe drinking water, well maintenance and local groundwater concerns during a free educational event Wednesday, July 29, in Monroe.
The event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the lower-level Community Conference Rooms at the Green County Government Services Building, N3152 Wis. 81. It is being hosted by the Green County Water Quality Coalition, which includes members from the Green County Land and Water Conservation Department, University of Wisconsin-Extension and Green County Public Health.
Unlike public water systems, private wells are the responsibility of the property owner. That means owners are responsible for testing and maintaining their own water supply to make sure it is safe to drink.
