Green’s Prairie Cemetery Ceremony to Honor Early Veterans

The Green’s Prairie Cemetery Association will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Green’s Prairie Cemetery in the Town of York.

The ceremony will honor veterans interred there from the Black Hawk War, the War of 1812 and the Civil War. It also will include a brief presentation on life in the 1840s, when the cemetery was established.

Green’s Prairie Cemetery is located on Postville Road between county highways A and H, just north of Postville. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, as there is no seating at the cemetery.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Town of York Hall, also located on Postville Road.
