Labor Day Pushes New Glarus Trash Pickup to Tuesday
Both the Village and Town of New Glarus normally receive Monday collection from Pellitteri Waste Systems. With Labor Day falling Sept. 7, trash pickup moves to Tuesday, Sept. 8, while recycling is not scheduled again until Sept. 14.
New Glarus residents should hold off on rolling their trash carts to the curb Monday. Pellitteri Waste Systems will be closed Sept. 7 in observance of Labor Day, pushing the community’s regular Monday collection to Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The change affects residents in both the Village of New Glarus and Town of New Glarus, where Pellitteri normally collects trash each Monday and recycling every other Monday.
There is one other detail worth noting: Tuesday’s delayed New Glarus collection is for trash only. Pellitteri’s 2026 collection calendar identifies Sept. 8 as a refuse-only collection day, with the next combined trash and recycling collection scheduled for Monday, Sept. 14.
Pellitteri cautions that collection times can change when routes are adjusted. The company generally recommends having carts out by 6 a.m. or the night before to avoid missing an earlier-than-usual truck.
