Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill Welcomed with Community Ribbon Cutting
Alphorn music, ice cream and Saturday sunshine helped welcome owner Sheri Wichser’s Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill as about 50 people gathered for a festive New Glarus ribbon cutting.
About 50 people gathered Friday afternoon to welcome Matterhorn Ice Cream & Grill to New Glarus as the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce hosted an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the community's newest restaurant and ice cream shop.
Owner Sheri Wichser was joined by family, friends, chamber members and local residents for the celebration at the business, 400 Railroad St. The event marked the official opening of the refreshed restaurant as guests enjoyed an afternoon of food, fellowship and plenty of ice cream.
The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the distinctive sound of alphorns as Heinz Mattmann and George Albright performed for those in attendance, adding a touch of Swiss tradition to the celebration in America's Little Switzerland.
