Maxwell James Parman, 2005–2026 (Updated)

Max Parman will be remembered for his love of sports, his dedication to family and friends, his growing faith, and the positive impact he made on teammates, classmates, and those whose lives he touched in New Glarus and beyond.

Maxwell James Parman, age 21 passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 following a traffic crash near Mount Vernon. He was born on March 19, 2005 the son of Kevin and Margaret (Ostrander) Parman in Madison, WI. Max grew up in New Glarus and graduated from New Glarus High School in 2023, where he was an accomplished athlete. He would continue his education at Edgewood College before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he was continuing his degree in physical education and health.

Max is survived by his parents Kevin and Peggy, brother Jackson (fiancé Cora Riffle), and sisters Kate and Ellie. He is further survived by his grandmothers Catherine Parman and Kathy Butterbaugh, aunts Kelly (Allen) Wunschel & daughter Anna McGhee and Becky (Jeff) Van Den Bergh and children Liam Vanderburg, Melissa Cork, and Jaimie Cork, and uncle Travis (Shannon) Parman and children Jesse, Clay, Liberty and Calen.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Greg Parman.

Max had a deep love for sports that shaped so many parts of his life. He cherished attending his siblings’ sporting events, being part of teams, and building lasting friendships with his teammates. Recently, he began coaching alongside his father, sharing his passion and knowledge with others. He enjoyed working out, meeting new people through sports, and treasured traditions like Friday breakfasts with his college friends. He also loved golfing and was a dedicated supporter of his best friend, Samantha, especially at her basketball games. In recent years, he grew closer to his faith, becoming involved with the church and strengthening his relationship with Jesus.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the New Glarus High School Gym, 1701 Second St., New Glarus, WI with Pastor David Bartosik officiating. All are invited to share memories and celebrate Max’s life following the memorial service from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the high school gym.
