Monticello Homecoming Returns This Weekend

A late change means the carnival will not be part of this year’s Monticello Homecoming, but the July 10-12 weekend still includes fireworks over Lake Montesian, food stands, Sunday chicken barbecue and several local sports tournaments.

Monticello Homecoming Returns This Weekend

MONTICELLO, Wis. — Monticello Homecoming returns July 10-12 with a full weekend of food, music, tournaments, fireworks and family activities in the neighboring Green County community.

The annual celebration, held just down the road a few miles from New Glarus, remains one of the area’s signature summer festivals and the Monticello Community Club’s main fundraiser for projects that benefit their village.

The Monticello Community Club announced earlier this week that the carnival will not be part of this year’s Homecoming due to unforeseen circumstances that prevented the carnival company from fulfilling its commitment. The club, however, worked overtime to come up with some suitable replacements

Among the new attractions, the festival will feature huge inflatables from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, with wristbands available for $10 per person. On Saturday, the pool will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. with free admission, followed by bed races at 4 p.m. The bed races are free to enter and will include three divisions with prizes.
