Music in the Park Returns Tuesday with Six Weeks of Free Live Music
New Glarus Music's summer concert series begins Tuesday evening in Village Park, bringing six weeks of free performances from regional bands and artists selected simply for a love of live music.
For Joanne and Steve Landry, the idea behind Music in the Park was simple: bring more live music to New Glarus.
The husband-and-wife team launched New Glarus Music on Tuesday nights last summer after recognizing what they viewed as a gap in the community's entertainment calendar. While New Glarus is known for its festivals and special events, they believed there was room for more opportunities to enjoy live music throughout the summer.
"We love live music. Period," Joanne Landry said. "The festivals New Glarus offers are great, but we felt there were gaps, and decided to start a free music series to fill them."
The second season of Music in the Park begins Tuesday, June 23, with Toco Beach Steelpan, a calypso-inspired steel drum band that Landry said was selected specifically to bring the feeling of summer to Village Park.
