National Pet Day Puts New Glarus’ Animal Lovers in the Spotlight

oday is National Pet Day, and New Glarus 360 is marking the occasion by celebrating the pets that are part of daily life across the community. From beloved house cats and loyal farm dogs to barn cats, lap dogs and Swiss breeds that feel right at home in New Glarus, animals have long held a special place in local homes, on local farms and in the stories families share.

That makes it a fitting occasion for a place like New Glarus, where animals have long been part of daily life and family identity. In a community shaped by Swiss heritage, dairy farms and small-town traditions, pets have never been just an afterthought. They have been companions on front porches and in farmyards, mousers in barns and machine sheds, watchdogs on country roads, and beloved members of households in town and in the countryside.
