New Glarus' Bill Oemichen Announces Assembly Run

New Glarus School Board President Bill Oemichen has entered the race for Wisconsin’s 50th Assembly District, launching a Democratic campaign focused on public school funding, agriculture, housing and health care.

Bill Oemichen, a longtime Town of New Glarus resident and current president of the New Glarus School Board, announced April 9 that he is running as a Democrat for Wisconsin State Assembly District 50. The district includes all of Green County along with the towns of Perry, Primrose, Montrose and Oregon, plus the villages of Belleville and Oregon in Dane County.

Oemichen enters the race with a long resume in public service, education and cooperative leadership. According to his campaign announcement, he is a professor of practice and local government educator with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension, is serving his third term on the New Glarus School Board and his fifth year as board president and also serves on several state and regional boards.
