New Glarus Celebrates Big World Euchre Weekend
More than 800 players filled downtown New Glarus for the 2026 World Euchre Championship, a fundraiser that also raised money for future pickleball courts.
New Glarus’ first downtown World Euchre Championship ended with a hometown victory, a packed tournament tent and a successful fundraising weekend for future pickleball courts.
Gif Hoesly and Larry Hauge of New Glarus won the 2026 World Euchre Championship sponsored by Bicycle Cards on Sunday, becoming the first team from New Glarus to capture the doubles title.
The tournament brought more than 200 tables and more than 800 players to New Glarus over the weekend, with competitors traveling from across the United States and Canada to take part in what organizers describe as the largest annual Euchre tournament in the world.
