New Glarus Firefest Returns Aug. 1st with Family Fun
Free children’s activities, firetruck rides, water fights, an extrication demonstration, food and drinks will fill Firefest on Aug. 1 as the New Glarus Fire Department thanks the community, welcomes families and raises money for equipment.
The New Glarus Fire Department will host Firefest beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the fire station, 218 Fourth Ave. The annual event combines free family activities, food, beverages and firefighter demonstrations while supporting the community’s volunteer fire department.
Free children’s activities will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and include firetruck rides, inflatables, an obstacle course, children’s water fights, a petting zoo and ice cream. An automobile extrication demonstration is scheduled from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Adult water fights will follow from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The competition is open to three-person teams, which must register by 2 p.m. Food and drinks will be available throughout the day, including New Glarus beer, Hoesly’s Meats bratwursts and hot dogs, walking tacos and other offerings.
