New Glarus First Responders Visit Prairie Haus
An annual Prairie Haus gathering brought tenants, caregivers and local first responders together for dinner, conversation and a close-up look at emergency vehicles — a community tradition that also reflects a practical part of the building’s mission.
Prairie Haus tenants, caregivers and New Glarus-area first responders recently came together for Home of Our Own’s annual gathering at the New Glarus apartment community, mixing dinner and conversation with one of the evening’s most anticipated attractions: the emergency vehicles parked outside.
Members of the New Glarus Police Department, New Glarus Fire Department, Green County Sheriff’s Office and Sugar River EMS spent time with residents during the event. Tenants were able to get a close look at a new fire truck along with police and EMS vehicles.
The vehicles were more than a backdrop. According to Home of Our Own, some tenants stayed outside until the trucks flashed their lights, sounded their sirens and finally pulled out of the parking lot — an annual ending that has become part of the fun.
Dinner was provided by Pancho & Lefty’s, with ice cream treats from Rockin’ Ryan’s Ice Cream. Members of the New Glarus Lions Club helped serve the food.
