New Glarus Group Wraps Up Basel, Switzerland Visit

BASEL, Switzerland — The New Glarus group is wrapping up a memorable weekend in Basel after gathering for the Eidgenössisches Jodlerfest, Switzerland’s national yodeling festival held every three years.

The New Glarus Jodlerklub performed Friday night at Marienkirche, joining yodelers, alphorn players, flag throwers and visitors from across Switzerland and around the world.

According to Bobbie Bernet, who is traveling with the group, the New Glarus delegation had time to experience more of Basel beyond the festival grounds.

Some visited museums, including the Kunstmuseum, which Bernet described as “among the best art museums in the world.” Others cooled off by swimming in the Rhine River, a popular summertime activity in Basel, especially during the severe heat wave affecting Switzerland this week.
