New Glarus High School jumped 10 places in the U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of Wisconsin public high schools, moving from No. 24 last year to No. 14 while competing with many schools several times its size.
New Glarus High School has climbed into the top 15 public high schools in Wisconsin, according to the latest rankings released Wednesday by U.S. News & World Report.
The school was ranked No. 14 among approximately 452 Wisconsin public high schools in the publication’s 2026-27 Best High Schools rankings, placing New Glarus roughly in the top 3% statewide. A year ago, New Glarus was ranked No. 24 in Wisconsin.
The improvement puts New Glarus among some of Wisconsin’s most highly regarded public high schools. Only Waunakee High School, at No. 13, separates New Glarus from the state’s top dozen. Middleton High School ranked No. 8.
New Glarus also finished ahead of Kohler, Shorewood, Arrowhead, Cambridge, Muskego, Brookfield Central, Oregon, Franklin and Platteville high schools in the statewide rankings. Cambridge was No. 19, Oregon No. 26 and Platteville No. 35.
