New Glarus received 0.76 inch of rain in the 24-hour period ending at 7 a.m. Friday, while nearby totals varied widely, from just 0.04 inch near Monticello to 1.00 inch at Janesville, showing how uneven the storms were across the region.

The readings cover rainfall from about 7 a.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday. The previous period was dry, with 0.00 inch reported Thursday morning, putting the approximate 48-hour total at 0.76 inch.
Rainfall varied considerably across the region. Janesville reported 1.00 inch, Blanchardville 0.53 inch, Monroe 0.30 inch and Mount Horeb 0.20 inch. A gauge near Monticello received just 0.04 inch, illustrating the patchy nature of the storms.
Friday morning’s National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan summary had not yet incorporated the newest New Glarus reading, but the Iowa Environmental Mesonet archive of the official NWS Cooperative Observer report showed the 0.76-inch total.
