New Glarus School District electors unanimously approved a $9.46 million property tax levy Monday night during a brief annual meeting that also brought potentially favorable news for taxpayers.
The $9,455,935 levy for the 2026-27 school year passed 10-0. It represents a 4.48% increase from the approximately $9.05 million levy for 2025-26.
But an important number changed between publication of the district’s budget materials and Monday night’s meeting.
The district had built its preliminary tax-rate estimate around an expected 4.55% increase in equalized property value. Business Manager Tammy Marty told electors Monday that the district recently learned its estimated 2026 equalized value growth is now 7.73%, slightly above the estimated statewide average of 7.62%.
