The New Glarus School Board will meet at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, in the New Glarus High School Library/Media Center. The most substantial action item on the agenda is a proposed two-year renewal of the Belleville/New Glarus boys soccer co-op.

Belleville and New Glarus have operated the high school boys soccer program together since 1995. Belleville remains the host school, handling coaching hires and most transportation, while New Glarus has hosted a larger share of practices and games since the Glarner Community Complex was built.

Participation has shifted considerably toward New Glarus in recent years. The current program includes 29 New Glarus students and eight Belleville students, while projections for 2027-28 call for 26 from New Glarus and eight from Belleville. District materials say ending the co-op would eliminate boys soccer at Belleville and likely result in New Glarus losing its JV team, reducing opportunities for younger and developing players.

The board will also hear a presentation on work completed or launched over the summer. Among the projects were construction of the concession and bathroom building and plaza/pavilion at the Glarner Community Complex, remodeling three special education rooms and a special education kitchen, and development of school-level 100-day academic plans.
