The New Glarus School District is expanding its Leadership and Sustainability Teams for the 2026–27 school year, including the creation of a team dedicated specifically to special education.

Known as LaST Teams, the groups bring together teachers, specialists and administrators to guide school improvement efforts. The collaborative leadership model was introduced during the 2025–26 school year to strengthen student learning and create systems that can be sustained over time.

Each school in the district has its own Leadership and Sustainability Team. The addition of the Special Education Leadership and Sustainability Team is intended to strengthen coordination and help ensure students receive high-quality academic and behavioral support.

The teams also work to align several of the district’s major educational systems, including Professional Learning Communities, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. Rather than treating those programs as separate initiatives, the district said LaST Teams help organize them into one system focused on student outcomes.
